Bala Falls, Wakestock, Rob Ford, Cranberry Festival, Don's Bakery and the "Kee to Bala" are just a few of the reasons why Bala is a major little hub for Muskoka. Located on the junction of the Moon River and Lake Muskoka, it is a wonderful day trip for cottagers. Whether you visit the ice cream store, pick up Don's scones for breakfast, see Blue Rodeo play at the Kee or just go to take pictures of the waterfalls, there is lots to do for everyone
If you have a cottage on Lake Muskoka, it is a beautiful boat ride. It is only about 5 feet deep going under the bridge and you can run into some amazing currents. The Bay can be very calm while the lake side very rough.
Did I mention there is a farmer's market there every Monday during the summer with some amazing fresh produce and interesting crafters. Definitely worth a visit
After a few different venues, "Wakestock" is returning to Bala. Looks like it is going to be quite the party. If you are lucky you might get to see the beautiful Osprey sitting in the big telephone pole to the left of the bridge.
Lovely little shops, Twig - one of my favourites, the Paddle Shack, The Bala Bay Inn and an absolutely delightful little place for lunch overlooking the bay. The Sun and Ski Marina has a beautiful art gallery in the front with lovely tables for coffee, lunch and dessert.
